So, here's the deal.. the AAP domain expires in about 8 days, and to be blunt, I don't really have any reason or interest in renewing the domain. After 9 years as a .com, and even longer as a part of Yahoo Geocities, it's time to move on. I mean hell, this site outlasted Geocities, that's saying a lot!

Fact of the matter is, as time moved on, and with the formation of EMS, the site became pretty neglected, traffic went down considerably, and now it's pretty much a shell of it's former self. In fact, aside from the occasional EMS traffic, this site is pretty much dead, except to a select few.

I can't really justify spending the extra money on another year of having aap.com when it's not getting the traffic or whatever to support it. The actual site will still be hosted though, as it's tied into my EMS account, and as long as EMS is around, AAP will be as well. just not in a domain name.

I could move the forums onto the EMS site, or I could get a free url redirect service to point to the current site, but I just don't think I should spend for another year of service if the site is just going to continue to be neglected.

SO, anyone have any opinions on how I/we should move forward?

Well, I think it would be appropriate if this forum can be integrated into the ems site. I mean, EMS has a lot of members and may post in the forums. I'll expound later on, right now I'm already late for work.

Well, if you're reading this, then you're reading the forums on the EMS site, everything should basically be unchanged, i'll be updating the graphics and all that as time goes on, not sure I'll keep this theme or not, as it's got too much intertwined with the old portal/front page of AAP.

If you run into any problems or errors, do let me know. thanks :)

Okay. Want to hear something funny? Right before you shut down the AAP forum, I was actually typing my reply for the thread. When I click post, I see the message the the forum has been disable.

Well, no need to re-type anything since this is basically what I was suggesting. I was on an on about redundancy and hesitation of members to move and all that. But hey, it's all good. I forgot what I wanted to say anyway.

Oh, by the way, want me to announce that the EMS now has a new forum? Well, technically it's an old forum, but it's something new to the other readers. At least now more people will be able to read your updates.

I also plan to have future releases posted in this forum instead of the main ems page. This will promote discussion among the readers. So on the ems main page it will say something like: "new chapter of yaiba now available. Check out our forums for more details here (link to the thread)." As opposed to the current practice of putting links to the chapters directly in the main page.

This will also make it easier for readers to interact with us. I find the ems comment page somewhat difficult to make interactions.

Well, not yet.. technically its not 100%, it's good to go for AAP users though. My goal would be to merge the user database on the main site/wordpress with the user database on the forums/phpbb. I'm not really sure if it's possible or feasible. But the end goal would be to completely disable comments on the main site, and have people comment in the forums. Although, how many will actually take the time to register and post is another story. I could enable guest posting, but without better spam controls, we're just asking for trouble. If we kept comment and the forum, it would seem a bit redundant..

So THIS is why I've been having login probs with the site....For some reason, it didn't list this thread as a 'new post', so I didn't notice it....

Well, I don't really mind the domain name change, so long as the forum itself remains the same....

I'll probably still refer to it as AAP though >_>

This is fine with me, I like having one site to keep up with instead of two. I had always just assumed that you had two sites for some sort of organizational purpose, or because you had started one, then the other, and had just never found the time to integrate the two... I've been intending to overhaul and relaunch my site for almost 2 years, and haven't found the time (or is it just motivation? ) to do it yet.

I do hope you'll continue to have all of the news posts about the anime industry and so on that you have been posting on AAP...

Yeah, we started the EMS group before we actually had the EMS site, therefore that's why we always did our business on the AAP site, but released and such on EMS, it worked well over the years, but like I said, between various things, it just didnt make sense to continue on with AAP.

And yeah, I still plan on posting news, hopefully more people will comment on it :P

Good call Ares. FB can just as easily replace most day to day traffic. I will certainly miss the old girl!
