Mirc Tutorial

Okay, I won't insult anyone reading this... IRC is a bitch to
learn :)  It's the ORIGINAL chat program for the internet, it's probably
been around longer than you have been born! (depending if your 21 or younger...)
not exactly sure when it was created... oh well..

Lot of programs out there to chat on IRC with, the most common
one being Mirc.  I'll get you started on how to enter our channel #emsmanga
on irc.irchighway.net and how to download from one of the filebots, anything
beyond that, there are a million other tutorials out there..

1) Download Mirc from here
http://www.mirc.com/get.html select
the link closest to your location.  Save the exe file to your desktop.
Double click and follow the prompts and install it.

2) run the program.  Your greeted with the menu below.
Type in your info (although I usually use a fake full name and email, Nickname
and Alternative are important as that is how you will be identifed.  Now in
the left menu select servers.

3) Scroll down until you see irchighway.net (random server).
Once everything is entered, click on Connect to server

4) You'll see a bunch of jibberish fly by, and as long as no one
else is using your username you'll soon be greeted by this menu.  If on the
rare circumstance that both your nickname and your alternate nickname is in use,
the system will prompt you for a new username which you can change by typing in
"/nick nickname" without the quotes and where nickname is the new username.

5) In the channel name field type #emsmanga (make sure to
include the # sign) and click Join

6) Congrats, you're in the channel!

7) From here, you can chat normally to other users in the room.
But for chat options and basics, seek other guides...we're here to leech!
To start with type !list as shown.

8) When you hit enter, any one who is serving and has their bots
to respond to !list will be shown in the chat screen, in this case we'll be
using EMS_Bot.

9) What we want to do is pay attention to the trigger.  The
trigger is what initiates a connection between you and the person serving.
In this case we type "/ctcp EMS_Bot manga" (without the quotes)

10) We're ready to connect, you'll get a popup saying the bot
wants to connect to a private chat, select Accept and you're taken to a new
window.

11) This is where you'll get your files.. pay attention to the
commands, in particular cd, dir, get, and exit. Anyone who has used as a
DOS prompt or command prompt should recognize at least a few of these commands.
cd and dir works just like in dos.  First type "dir" minus the quotes to
get a file listing.  Use the cd and dir commands to navigate to where you
want to go.

12) After you find the file you want it is important to type
"get FILENAME" (where filename is what you want) EXACTLY as it appears. you do
NOT need to type in file size.

 13) After hitting enter, you'll be greeted by a prompt
that says you shouldn't accept files from strangers (awww...how nice!) uncheck
the checkbox and select OK.

14) Once that is cleared away, another popup box appears saying
if you want to accept or reject the file...obviously you'll want to click on
accept.  Before you do, you can change the location of the download,
currently its set to the download directory inside mIRC, but you can change it
to wherever you want.

15) Wait for the file to download (that's easy!)

16) After it downloads you can click on open file from the
prompt, or just navigate to the file on your pc!  That's it!

NOTES: Most Fserv's (the bots) require that you stay in
the same channel (room) as they are in while you're downloading the file (that
includes EMS_Bot or Ares_EMS) if you leave #emsmanga, then the file you are
trying to download will be cancelled.  You can also change the default
download directory from the options menu.
